Slightly over 60 years ago, a dedicated group of Lutherans decided to form an ELCA Church in Columbia, Missouri. After ordination in June 1957, Morris Niedenthal,​ ​with his rural roots, was called to ​provide spiritual leadership​ and assist the fledgling group become functional​. It was named St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in 1958 to recognize the first person Christ called to be a disciple, the first of a group of common individuals like most of us.
